About Me

lin-3My name is Lin and at present am a part time Blogger. Welcome to “Telling It Like It Is”. I currently work full time in the Dental Industry as a Registered Dental Assistant and Office Manager, my chosen profession for the last 18 years.

I have been writing articles about a large variety of topics for quite a number of years and within the last couple of years found it is much easier to do my writing on my computer, thus being able to easily edit and save them for later use, and/or publish them here on the internet.

Many of my articles are on topics that affect me personally, or have at one time or another in my life. Whether it be topics relating to friendship, marriage, divorce, children, teenagers, in-laws, elderly parents, death and mourning, blended families, step-families, religion, cults, mind-control, abuse, abusive relationships, blogging, researching and learning more efficient ways of writing, journaling, the best ways of increasing readership, I put a great deal of effort and thought into my writings to hopefully also benefit you, my readers. What topics I personally am not fully versed or have complete understanding, I let you know that within the article, and I provide the information I do know and help by directing you to where further answers can be found.

It is my hope that you will find my articles some that you too can relate to, perhaps events that are now or have happened in your life, or in the lives of someone you care about. Even through the pages found in cyberspace, we can often times touch the heart of someone having similar experiences or difficulties, and how much easier it is when you know you are not alone.

Some of my articles relate to my having been born and raised, third generation, in the Jehovah’s Witness religion. In 1995, at the age of 35, I made the personal choice of leaving the religion I grew up in, much to the chagrin of my family. Those of you who may be familiar with the beliefs of Jehovah’s Witnesses know the severe consequences of “leaving the flock”, wherein you are literally no longer allowed any form of communication with your JW family members. Whether you are or not familiar with the religion or it’s beliefs, I welcome your comments on the pages dealing with such topics.

In 1993 I divorced my JW husband of fifteen years due to it being an abusive relationship. I subsequently moved from Chicago with my children to Dallas Texas where my family live. I was a single mother of six children, three boys and three girls, for ten years until I married my current husband in 2003. Topics of blended families, step families, are definitely ones I can relate to now.

My children are mostly grown now, my youngest being 18 years old as of August 30, 2007. My oldest is 27 years old, and I had what many have referred to as “stepping stones” for children, in that each were born about two years apart. That in itself gives me a great deal of material to write about, from pregnancy and birth, all the way through the horrific teenage years where you just might think you’ve lost your mind completely, followed by college and young adult lives.
