Amazon.com announced on Friday that the Sarah Palin Calendar 2009 is currently the top selling item on Amazon’s list of “Office Products and Supplies”. Alaska Governor Sarah Palin may not have made it to the White House, but she is a leader on Amazon’s best-seller list for holiday sales in 2008, saying the 2008 holiday season was its “best ever” with more than 6.3 million items ordered.
The 13-month Palin calendar contains 50 photos of Palin and her family, including some “never before seen photos” taken by long time Wasilla resident and photographer friend-of-Sarah Judy Patrick.
Other holiday bestsellers on Amazon included the Nintendo Wii, Samsung 52-Inch LCD HDTV, the Apple iPod Touch and the Blokus board game. Amazon did a great job as usual offering deals and driving customers to its site, adding that “the best possible prices” were frequently on Amazon.com.
More consumers appear to have done their Christmas shopping online, especially during the last two weeks of the season when storms snowed many shoppers inside their homes.
Black Friday 2 has brought an onslaught of shoppers looking for the best deals online and offline. Day after Christmas online sales have retailers and outlets hoping to reap at least some of Amazon’s shopping appeal as the 2008 holiday season comes to a close.

The second Black Friday, referred to as Black Friday 2, has after Christmas shoppers in search of after Christmas sales for bargains and discount prices and is expected to draw huge crowds. After Christmas online sales continues to offer deep discounts and clearances on many items including electronics, HDTV, jewelry, computers and laptops and much more.
Department stores like Macy’s and JC Penney are offering 50-80% off sales. Sears and Kmart’s after-Christmas sales are focused on more than the usual clearance items, offering a $25 gift card with a set of new tires as well as sales on a garage-door opener, tools and tool storage items, home electronics and fitness equipment.
The Best Buy ad online promises a 3-day sale, starting on Christmas Day, including discount sales on High Definition (HDTV) televisions. On the day after Christmas, sale prices at Sears will go 70% lower, Target will go 75% lower, Wal-Mart will go 80% lower, and Bloomingdales will match the world’s largest retailer with their own 80% discounts.
Private-label clothes will be 50-60% off, Christmas decorations will have deep discounts (up to 75% off), and the entire stock of JCPenney diamonds will be on clearance up to 50% off.
Bath & Body Works will mark down merchandise by 75%
Toys “R” Us will be holding Black Friday 2 sales from December 26 to January 3, 2009.
Barnes & Noble is discounting thousands of books, DVDs, toys, video games, calendars etc from 50-90 percent off.
Target is offering deals up to 75% off on some clothes, furniture, electronics and holiday decorations. Bath and bedding will be discounted up to 70% off.
After-Christmas store hours include:Â JCPenney- 5:30 a.m., Belk- 6:00 a.m., Kohl’s- 6:00 a.m., Sears- 7:00 a.m.
