Gruffalo Trunki Travel Luggage on Wheels Review

melissa-and-doug-trunki-suitcase-for-kids-133x150-2-3 The Trunki suitcase is a lightweight ride-on suitcase for kids and toddlers that weigh no more than 110 lbs, an ingenious invention by Trunki designer Rob Law, for parents traveling with small children going on family vacations or a weekend at Granny’s house.

Specially designed as a kids ride-on toy suitcase on wheels for family vacation trips, the award winning, boredom busting Trunki suitcase for kids is an airport approved carry on luggage case that young children can sit on and ride on through the airport without getting tired and grumpy from all the waiting and walking through airport security and terminals.

The Trunki suitcase for kids may be primarily designed for travel, but little kids learning how to walk will enjoy using their Trunki as a fun walker push toy, as little children learn to walk well and develop a good sense of balance.

Having seen a few videos about Trunki and all the cool extra accessories newly released or soon to be available in the U.S., I couldn’t resist buying the colorful ruby red Trunki and accessories at for a little girl in the family to play with, ride on and enjoy.

Trunki Kids Suitcase is Travel Luggage on Wheels

Trunki is a comfortable, durable ride-on toy and rolling suitcase that comes with a long multi-purpose shoulder strap for easy carrying and smooth rolling wheels for parents, siblings, friends or relatives to push or tow tots around on their Trunki at home, airports, train stations, etc.

Based on the many Trunki reviews I’ve read, kids love their Trunki luggage case and so do parents! We believe the lightweight Trunki suitcase and accessories makes a great gift idea for Christmas, birthdays, baby showers or as a “just because” gift. The only thing about Trunki‘s that brought a little disappointment is that they don’t make Trunki suitcases for adults.

Trunki is available in colors that little boys and girls will love. There is the purple “Iris” Trunki with pink and green accents; green “Jade” Trunki with blue and red accents; “Ruby” red Trunki with black and white accents; “Sunny” orange Trunki with black and white accents; “Terrance” blue Trunki with green and orange accents and a “Pixie” pink Trunki with purple and green accents.

Trunki is airline approved for carry on but is not intended as checked-in baggage, and is great fun for kids to pack their own clothes, books, games, toys and snacks when traveling by plane, train, car or bus to Granny’s house or whatever travel destination is planned. The Trunki suitcase fits comfortably under the seats on airplanes for quick and easy access while on going on trips, and kids will enjoy pulling, sitting on and riding their very own luggage case.

Trunki has won many well deserved product and design awards including Practical Pre-School Gold, Right Start Best Toy Bronze, Kind und Jungen Innovation Award Finalist, Max-IT Critics Choice, Mother and Baby Best Travel Product Silver, Travel Good Show Product Innovation Awards, Design Week Design Awards Commendation, FQ Top Gear Award, International Forum Product Design Award, Baby and Child Fair Show Product of the Year.

Trunki Suitcase Accessories

The accessory Trunki messenger-style saddlebag, tote bag, stickers and other extra accessories helps kids add a little personality to their Trunki and is a positive distraction for long hours of traveling with kids.

The Trunki tote bag fits into one side of your child’s Trunki and prevents toys from falling out when the suitcase is opened. The tote bag can also be attached to the back of the car or plane seat in front for easy reach, so toys, books and games are never out of kids reach while traveling.

The Trunki saddlebag doubles as a comfy saddle seat on the Trunki, where kids can keep crayons, coloring books, comic books and toys safely inside the zipper compartment. I’m anxious to find where I can buy a Trunki brand BoostApak booster seat and backpack (for kids aged 4 years old to 12), because the booster seat/backpack will be a great help when the kiddos visit Granny and Grandpa.

I’m also excited about the Trunki travel ToyBox for kids, which is a stackable toy box that can be used as a ride-on toy, tow-along cart, rocking cradle for dolls or stuffed teddy bears, and kids can even create a Trunki train by easily connecting the Trunki suitcase and toybox to each other! Choo-Choo! Prices vary depending on where you buy a Trunki, as some retail store sales are cheaper than others, but we’re hosting a FREE Trunki Giveaway contest for one reader to WIN a Trunki!
